The Vasque Grand Traverse is a nice hiking shoe that doesn't have the clunky look of many hikers and resembles an athletic shoe. The soles have a nice lug pattern, good grip and work well on wet surfaces. The laces are fairly short but there is enough to tie without any excess dangling. The Beluga color is great - sort of a charcoal/cinder that works well with just about any color. The purple accent on the sole and the eyelets provides a nice pop of color without being obnoxious. I'm used to wearing Keens, which have a more rounded toebox than these. I normally wear a size 10 and am so glad that I went a 1/2 size up in these. Because of the way the lacing extends down almost to the toe, it breaks the shoe up visually so I don't look like I'm wearing tugboats!
