I had done some reading about the Trotters with some mixed reviews on comfort and fit, but I decided to take a chance on a pair of these and a pair of the similar slings they make. The first impression is how soft they feel on my feet from the inside. The leather didn't really require any breaking in. I wear a wide and these shoes have plenty of room to accommodate. I had done some reading recently on the importance of buying good leather shoes and avoiding the cheaper shoes made of synthetics. It turns out I did a little experiment with these. The second time I wore them, I spent nearly ten hours in them on a long day(not standing the whole time). I wouldn't call them running shoe comfortable, but I wasn't dying to get out of them at the end of that day. The next day I had an evening function and wore a cheap pair of shoes for only about four hours. I could barely walk by the time I got out of those cheap shoes after less than half the time.
I'm impressed with the Trotters. Enough so I've ordered another pair in a different color. The only thing I might do is get a gel insert for a little cushion, but it isn't absolutely necessary.
