These boots, as with my other pair of Frye boots, required no breaking in. I wore them straight out of the box and walked on uneven terrain all day without even noticing that I had them on. Frye is pricey but the quality is unsurpassed.

I purchased the both the redwood and black. The first time I bit the bullet on the price. The fit around the ankle (mine are skinny) didn't look right, also the soles were smooth. I'm getting older and didn't want the slippage. The cobbler could apply a treatment to the soles at $25.00 each boot, but didn't want the added cost. Overall they were exactly the type of combat boot I wanted, rich looking, but I was disappointed after trying them on.
