I bought this pair based off of a recommendation from a friend who worships the Brooks brand. I actually had never tried Brooks before, before only using Asics and occasionally Nike.
This set I'm not too crazy about, especially not for the price, since the main reason I bought it was for my back problem (lower lumbar issues, slipped/torn discs).
I was just approved to run, and wanted something that could soften the impact when I run on trail.
For someone without back problems, or someone who's running on softer trail (as in not paved concrete with constant shocks hitting your spine every step), this set would not be a bad buy. It's kind of a nice all-around running shoe, without way too much bulk (as would result from padding) and feels pretty light (nice for running!).
However, I prefer my Hoka One One Clifton 3's far more than this set. WAY more cushioning, absorbing WAY more impact than these Brooks.
Last note, I bought the black set with the "grape" highlights.
I have to say, I'm quite sick of seeing a bunch of women's running shoes designed with ugly tye-dye vomit, and I was glad that Brooks had at least one set that toned it down (maybe not enough for me to wear on say a shopping trip through farmer's market, but hey I won't feel weird wearing tye-dye vomit shoes at a race!).
