Having never had any experience with the Alegria brand of shoes previously, I must say that the construction of these comfortable clogs is top-notch throughout. The included removable, thick, cushioning insoles which adapt their shape to your feet over time are made of cork, Latex and leather. They even surpass the quality and thickness of the insoles provided in such specifically pedorthic or podiatrist-recommended shoe brands as Drew.
If you want to, you also can remove these insoles and easily have enough room/depth to insert your own prescription orthotics. These clogs are truly orthotic-friendly!
Not only are the synthetic soles on these clogs nice and thick to provide additional foot cushioning in combination with the aforementioned outstanding insoles, but they are also slip-resistant and so far appear to be truly non-marking, especially on tile floors. The last feature is very unusual: I have had other shoes/slippers make this claim in the past, but have always been disappointed when spots/smudges still continued to appear on my tile floors with associated needed cleaning that wasted my time.
I guess that since the soles of these Alegria clogs specifically have the word "non-marking" (as well as slip-resistant) emblazoned thereon, it's a claim that the manufacturer really has to live up to or constantly be reminded of having disappointed consumers. These clogs definitely do not disappoint!
The clogs themselves are true-to-size (my usual size is 10.5 M or D USA) and of adequate width with a little bit of room to spare even when wearing socks. A break-in period is not needed; they're soothingly and supportively comfortable right out of the box. I especially like the fact that more than sufficient toe room is provided; there's no need for elegantly pointy toes here.
There really isn't much of anything that I don't like about these clogs. I suppose that I could have done without the primarily decorative (but the width can be adjusted, if needed) side buckles provided, but that doesn't really bother me one way or the other when the shoes are as well made and comfortable as these are. It also might have been a nice feature to have included some sort of rubberized toe protector region (as some manufacturers such as Timberland do) to guard against scuffing in an area of the shoe that is most susceptible to having this happen during daily use.
Overall, I highly recommend these clogs/shoes without reservations: Now, go forth and purchase!
