"The Fred Perry Oakfield in steel/ red is a handsome trainer which could be easily worn in a causal setting, as well as to the gym. I've owned a number of pairs of 'fashion shoes' and the Oakfields definitely rank high in comfort and construction. The sole is sturdy yet supportive, and does not make your feet sweat. The uppers are nylon and seem like they will probably hold up well after moderate use.
My only complaint with the Fred Perry Oakfield models are the sometimes hideous-looking color combinations they have come up with. For a rather sophisticated and paired-down model trainer, it seems like they could have come up with some less offensive color combos (white, with a black logo, or navy, with a white logo?). Even the steel/ red had me second guessing, but ultimately I am going to get some use out of these. They are the closest to the understated shoe I had devised in my mind."
