I bought these because I just moved up to Rochester, NY. from Texas. The locals told me to get ready for intense snowstorms and that I should buy some sturdy boots to help brave the storms.I love them!They fit, they're good looking, and they're pretty watertight.

I was looking for a nice pair of boots for the fall that didn't have an overly chunky sole yet still looked like more boot than dress shoe. A mixture of a classic combat boot with a more modern and sleeker outsole. My search ended with the Doc Martens Pier. The leather upper is very soft and there's almost no break-in period needed. As with a lot of boots they do run slightly big. I normally wear a 10 1/2 or 11 in shoes, but got these in a 10 and they fit perfectly. If you are going to wear them with thick socks during the winter then I would suggest ordering your normal size. My only small concern is a little bit of rubbing on the inside of the boot where the heel reinforcement meets the upper. This was only really felt when I tried to wear low-cut ankle socks on a mild temperature day. Wearing a pair of socks with a higher cut easily remedied the issue. I would highly recommend this boot to those who are looking for a good casual boot that can also be dressed up a little.
