Women’s Specific Fit
Merrell footwear is uniquely designed for women and men, with completely separate lasts for each. From the start, Merrell has used special lasts for men and women, taking into account that the structure of a women’s foot is different then a man’s foot. The women’s lasts have always taken into account that:
1. At the Achilles tendon, heel and ball, women’s feet are narrower than men’s
2. Proportionally, women’s toes are longer than men’s
3. Women have a higher arch and instep than men
4. Women’s calf muscles are longer than men’s
Merrell Lasts
Lasts are the foundation of all Merrell footwear. A shoe last is a piece of wood, metal or synthetic material approximately representing the shape of the foot and serving as a form on which a shoe or boot is constructed. Over time, Merrell has designed lasts not only specific to men and women, but for various outdoor activities too.
Hiking
Snug in the heel and precise over the instep to keep feet from sliding forward. Plenty of toe room. For use with a mid-weight hiking sock
Full Athletic
Comfortable, close-to-the-foot with more volume in the instep. Accommodates a light- to mid-weight athletic sock
Trail Balanced/Running Speed II
Ultra-precise fit, semi-curved last with added volume in lateral forefoot. Accommodates a light athletic sock
Sport Sandals
Biomechanically constructed to fit the contours of the foot to enhance freedom of movement
